I can’t believe that I’ve just found this glass jar of tomato paste. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve opened a can and let it sit in my refrigerator uncovered until I decided it was time to throw it out. Bionaturae is a Tuscany based company that has a complete line of organic tomato products. They are currently being sold at Bi-Rite Market in the Mission.

Darling Juanita – you should consider purchasing ALL of your non-fresh tomato products in glass… canned tomatoes and tomato products are considered some of the most dangerous foods to eat. From the “7 Foods Food Experts Won’t Eat” list: “Food can linings contain bisphenol-A (BPA), a synthetic estrogen that has been linked to many illnesses. The problem worsens when the cans contain acidic food such as tomatoes, which leach BPA into the food.”
So there’s that.
Bionaturae also makes kickass gluten-free pasta for those folks (like me) who can’t eat wheat and/or gluten.
So yay Bionaturae!
Old food saver trick… put left over tomato paste in ice cube tray for individual portions. (Once frozen can be popped out and stored in zip-lock type bag). I’ve done it with leftover coffee for ice coffee drinks/frappuccino. I hate to waste.
